Sex & the City Par-Tea.....

was had by myself on thursday evening,...... one of my team bought it for me for my birthday. how lovely?
the Par-tea was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Portman Square, London.
The Hyatts afternoon tea has been taken over by the Sex & the City girls, including cocktails! choosing from Cosmopolitan, a Manhattan, a Flirtini (champagne, vodka and pineapple juice) or a classic Martini with an olive!
The savoury dishes on the Afternoon Tea menu are inspired by the city of New York and include pastrami on rye, and mini New York bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Mini burgers (named after Jack Berger, ) and mini New York hot dogs with a light drizzle of mustard add a little Manhattan glamour to the tea.
For the sweets & treats a selection of mini pastries have been created with each of the girls in mind. For Carrie, a strawberry-flavoured chocolate pink stiletto; for Charlotte, a mini pink strawberry cupcake; for Samantha an appletini jelly in a mini martini glass; and, finally, for Miranda, mini glazed doughnuts!
You can also choose from a fine selection of teas that have been highlighted for each of the girls: For Carrie, a 2007 Organic Silver Needle White Tea: light, delicate quenching flavours, yet surprisingly full textured with a satisfying velvety finish. For Samantha, a Flower Osmanthus: an explosion of variegated green tea leaves out of the heart of which unfolds the flame-coloured petals of the osmanthus. For Charlotte, the traditional Sapphire Earl Grey: refreshing and bright, a perfectly focused classic. Finally for Miranda, Darjeeling 2nd Flush: sprightly, lively, sappy and refreshing.
For an extra special treat you can have champage served through a christian louboutin shoe glass.
Sex & the City tea is being served until the end of August... a great girlie afternoon and a fab bit of fun for any S&TC fan....

Déjeuner à Paris...la deuxième partie

Lunch in Paris.... part two! (apologies in advance for photo overload!)
Wednesday morning dawned cloudy & a little overcast, but this did not deter our trip! We were booked on the 8.02am train from St Pancras, which took some military planning for check in at 7.30, early mornings are not some of our strong points!
St Pancras is an absolutely stunning building, and would urge any of you to pop in if passing just to view, The bronze statues at the Meeting place and the Betjeman which are beautiful, also check out the champagne bar.
Train departed on time and was soon heading at speed towards the English Channel, much fun was had on the trip over, catching up on news and laughing (lots) it's amazing how 3 ladies in their late(very) 30's can quickly regress to being teenagers again! On arrival in France we were greeted by glorious blue sky and sunshine, which stayed with us to Paris. A much needed stretch of legs was required and what better way than a hike up the steps to the stunning Sacre Coeur in the Montmartre district.
The view from here is spectacular, including a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower through the rooftops. (the hike in 32' heat is not advisable unless equipped with oxygen & water!)

After a leisurely stroll down the hill, we jumped on the metro and headed over towards the opera are to Bastille, where we decided to lunch in a brasserie called Bofinger (pronounced Bo-fan-jay), this was featured on Greatest Cities of the World hosted by Griff Rhys Jones.( 03.44 in this clip) a beautiful Parisian brasserie tucked down a side street.
The food and service was excellent. They did a great lunch menu, where we went for the day special of Steak which was delicious, followed by crème brûlée for one and a chocolate crunch dessert for 2!(it was ferreo rocher in a dessert on a plate, very rich, but oh so yummy!)
A much needed stroll was required now, especially as it was now touching 33', we avoided the tourist roads and headed down towards the river Seine, passing some gorgeous food & flower shops.

We passed the beautiful building Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville which was surrounded by water fountains alongside the Seine.
A short trip over the river found us in the throng of tourists admiring the stunning Notre Dame complete with gargoyles! this is the first time that I have been to Paris and the building be free of scaffolding. It did look amazing in the sunshine.
A short stroll to the metro and our day was nearly over as we headed back to the Gare du Nord for a quick drink and then back on the train for our journey home.

Adieu Paris,
Merci pour une belle journée vraiment J & K eu un temps merveilleux.

Couture & Craftmanship .......... Kelly & Quilts

sums up my evening last night. I finished on time and headed over to the Victoria & Albert Museum to view the Grace Kelly collection and see the amazing craftsmanship in the Quilts exhibition.
Starting with Kelly, one of the style icons of haute couture, glamour and elegance. From Hollywood princess to Princess Consort, styled and dressed to suit. My one disappointment was that they didn't have her wedding dress, which is truly fabulous. They did however have the Hermes Kelly handbag, which I salivated over longingly. Other than the Kelly bag, my favourites were the dresses from High Society and the beautiful little black dress from Rear Window. She favoured gowns by couturiers such as Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Yves St Laurent, which are all featured in the exhibit.

Quilts 1700 ~ 2010
The Quilt exhibition has been one of the most successful that the V&A has shown and I'm not surprised. The array of quilts that are on show are amazing. Real works of art and should sit alongside any Monet, or Picasso as inspirational pieces of art & history. The level of detail displayed in the very early quilts was astounding, even more so when you know that it would of  been stitched by hand. I adored the childs bed, complete with complementing dolls cradle & quilt.

Unfortunately this exhibit finishes tomorrow, congratulations to the V&A for being bang on trend as usual.
I'm loving these summer evenings in the city!.... especially when on Friday evenings the V&A stays open until 10pm. After perusing the exhibits, I sat with my feet in the pool in the Garden of the V&A sipping a Pimms.... heaven!

Tea & Tap.... & tempting treats!

was my Thursday afternoon. I'm working 6 days for the next few weeks, so Thursday afternoon I snuck out late afternoon and headed over to The Berkeley for a spot of Afternoon Tea before going to see Tap Dogs at the Lyceum Theatre, ....(another bargain ticket!)
Tea
I loved the Berkeley, understated elegance & glamour. Afternoon Tea at the Berkeley is not just any afternoon tea, it's Pret-a-Portea, the complete indulgent treat for any fashionista! The whole menu is derived from the Spring/Summer 10 season collection, all served up on classic Paul Smith china.
Tea is served in the Caramel Rooms, which served Tea and Drinks, I was a bit nervous of going on my own , but everyone was lovely, unrushed and very scrumptious. I whiled away a couple of hours drinking tea and eating some delicious sandwiches (crusts off of course!) and delectable desserts, browsing through a book and people watching!
This seasons collection features a Chanel Cookie Clog and an Anya Hindmarch bag!..... how cute.
I was unable to finish all my tea-time treats, They do top up the sandwiches and the tea frequently! so they gift box them up for you to takeaway in a gorgeous green pret-a-portea gift box!
Pret-a-Portea is also available for delivery, via the lovely waiter on his pastiche scooter, (I'm soooo loving the scooter!)
This is a real indulgent treat, a great girlie afternoon out, in elegant surroundings. It will be the only time you have, Chanel, Anya Hindmarch, Paul Smith, YSL,Jean Paul Gaultier to name a few all on one table!
after my tea time treat, I headed over to Covent Garden, which was bathed in beautiful sunshine, and strolled around (walked off some of those cakes!)
before the show started.
Tap
It's hard to put into words what Tap Dogs is about, but I will try!..........
6 fit men tap their way through their working day on a building site! It's like a ballet, only it's tap dancing and the tap shoes are steel toe capped work boots!
Did I mention that the guys were Fit! (in sooo more ways than 1!)This show came out of Australia many years ago, and it is phenominal. Adam Garcia heads up the cast (chick flick lovers will remember him from Coyote Ugly, click here for a reminder!) and is accompanied by 5 other guys.
The show is 90 minutes long with no breaks, these guys have got some stamina!.....it's very fast, lots of scene changes with scafolding and the two girls who accompany the guys on drums & percussion are great.
During the course of the show you will see a synchronised tap dance whilst playing basketball, A tap duet, with one person taping upside down suspended above the stage, and a very clever take on singing in the rain! (if you book the front 4 rows in the stalls ~ you will get wet!)
Highly recommended, .... if Tapping's not your thing it's worth going just to see Adam Garcia, sweaty in a vest... well it made my night! (many apologies that this post is long!)
