Up on the Roof....

on a voyage of discovery is where I spent lunch on Friday (thanks to cupcake kelly from "an american cupcake in london) sampling cocktails and boating on a lake.
As some of you may have seen in the press, Bompas & Parr installed a lake on the roof of Selfridges, 6 floors above Oxford Street.
The event was for 4 days to introduce the food industry to Truvia, a natural sweetener. Truvia is derived from the Stevia plant found in South America.
The adventure started by a magical lift ride from the ground floor to the 5 th floor in a lift filled with adventure books ( I would have been happy travelling up & down in this all day!)
On arrival at the top we were greeted by an adventurer who presented us with 2 rock crystals, which would be used in exchange for cocktails!... we were then lead through a dark tunnel complete with amazonian & snake graphics onto the roof , a taste of South America complete with an English twist...

A cocktail was required to give me dutch courage to get in the boat!... so a Stevia Smash was ordered: Tequila, Lime, Truvia Crystals, Luxardo & mint!... courtesy of the experimental cocktail cliub.  just the tonic to set me on my journey!... a punt on the lake with a cricket bat as an oar!... and umbrella to offer some protection from the Iguazo falls... (failed miserably!)... much fun was had, myself & Jo (member of my team) laughed so much it hurt... the lovely man feeding us strawberries dipped in Truvia helped...having survived the waterfall we were given a Discovery bottle cocktail from the Crystal Island, which consisted of Havana Rum, Allspice dram, ginger, apricot brandy, lime & truvia gomme.

On departure (complete with a wet bum) we were given our very own Stevia plant to nurture at home....
a short trip back to office (behind the black wall by the roof entrance!) to dry off....
thanks Kelly for the magic tickets!....
here's a peak of the lake when everyone has left for the evening...
