thankyou does not seem enough..

As the Olympics drew near, I along with many others were a little nervous. I knew it would be huge. As a city we had demonstrated we could do pomp and circumstance like no other, with both the royal wedding and the jubilee. The question was could we pull off the biggest sporting spectacular securely?
There was muted sighs of relief ripple through the city when it was announced that the army were being pulled in.
Having commuted into London for the past 9 years and witnessed the devastation that 7/7 bought to the city, just the knowledge that we would have an army presence in London made us all feel a little more secure. This was even more profound in the wake of 7/7, occuring the day after London secured the bid to be the host city for 2012 Olympics...the Olympics and Paralympics were always going to be a target of some description.
So I would like to say a HUGE THANKYOU to all the military and army personnel who cancelled leave and have spent the last 3 months sleeping in tents, alongside river banks and on benches keeping us safe. Your presence at all venues, working very long shifts, manning security controls has been appreciated by us all.
You are what made these games secure and the success that they are. This has allowed us to relax and share the fun with the fabulous gamesmakers and watch in wonder at the Olympians & Paralympians.
You were all fantastic .... Thankyou, you've made us Proud to be British... enjoy what time you have left your familys and stay safe in future endevours.
