An evening with Michael Buble

Many many months ago my work friend Nat & I arrived extra extra early to work to ensure that workload was clear for 9am, that days priority was to secure 4 tickets for Michael Buble by any means!... Fortunately with much planning and luxury of pre-sale notification 4 tickets were in the bag by 9.03... Michael went on to sell out 10 nights at the O2 within hours.
Buble day dawned bright and glorious in London and after escaping work early, a leisurely eaten Lobster at Burger & Lobster the jubly line transported us to the O2.
Arriving at the O2 we settled in our seats for an evening of entertainment, we had great seats sitting in tier one allowing us great views of both stages...( so worth getting up extra early for!)
Michael opened the show in glamorous red lit stage to Fever compete with legendary slide action!.with the audience eating out of the palm of his hand...
Michaels set list was long (20 songs & 3 encores) covering a huge range of songs and some unexpected covers. Here are some of my favourites....

• Feelin Good
• I've got the World on a String
• Close you eyes (latest single and a as beautiful as Home)
• Home ( a song guaranteed for T to be sobbing in a tissue, its my last memory of my Nan and makes me cry every time I hear it!)

At this point Michael thanked his audience and said it was time to liven things up... This came about with a great cover of Daft Punk's Get Lucky during which he moved from the big stage to a smaller stage in front if us!.. Much to the delight & screaming of 1000's of women in the arena!
Accompanied by Naturally7, Michael did a great medley of Motown classics including;

• I want you back
• To Love Somebody

This led into the Beetle classic All You need is Love complete with confetti canons cascading 1000's of buble hearts across the arena, leading straight into Elvis's Hunk of Burning Love .

Michael then went on to Thank the British audience who had taken him to heart many years ago and made him the star that he is today... He said it not only had changed his life but his families too and he would never be able to express his thanks more... He then finished his set with Beautiful Day

After much clapping, whistling, feet stamping Michael hit the stage again for 3 fantastic songs that showcase him as a true star and why he's this centuries crooner from Canada!

• Save the Last Dance

And my ultimate favourite A Song for You  I urge all of you to watch this to the end. This is MB's swansong and gives me goosebumps every time I hear him sing it... The words and the way he delivers this are just stunning.... Enjoy x Had a fantastic evening Michael was amazing, entertaining, humble and heartfelt... Something you don't see always.

I hope that you have enjoyed a little bit of Buble, 150,000 people of 10 night at the O2 did and this was Michaels message to them.

Burger & Lobster

Last Friday a friend from work(N), her mum and my friend had tickets for a very special evening in London. ( a little event at the O2) To make the day even more special, we decided that an early supper somewhere fun in London was needed.
Chosen venue of choice was Burger & Lobster. We decided to leave early from work and after a lovely stroll through Mayfair to the restaurant we were able to be seated straight away. ( for those familiar with this venue will know that you can often wait an hour to be seated due to popularity and inability to reserve a table) Why is it popular?... Because its one of the only places that you can get whole lobster cooked deliciously for £20... Complete with fries & salad!. As the title suggests you have a choice of 3 things on the menu, burger, lobster or lobster roll!
2 of us opting for lobster and 2 for lobster roll it was an easy selection!... Accompanied by beers and fizzy water we had a great couple of hours relaxing, chatting, & enjoying the food. Considering it was the first time the two of the four of us had met, a fun time was had by all.

What aided to the ambience was that we were not continually bothered by the waiters, who when required looked after us very well and at no point did we feel rushed, which can often happen in places that don't book tables and are busy.

This was my Second  trip to burger & lobster and don't imagine it will be my last. Great lobster, & a fab cocktail list ..what more could you ask for!.. Perfect start to a fabulous evening...

Afternoon tea with a bun!

Unless you have been hiding in a cupboard for the past few weeks, you would not have failed to  noticed that London is awash with Burger wars!... Since the opening of a number of 'gourmet' burger establishments over the past 18months and Shake Shack and Five Guys crossing the pond to open in Covent Garden. Burgers have suddenly become more than what gets thrown on the BBQ in the summer. I have several favourites including Patty & Bun, and Byron .. However when I saw Brgr & co doing Afternoon tea with a bun I had to give it a go!... As an avid afternoon tea fan and burger junkie this was my idea of heaven.

The menu is fixed, 3 sliders; cheeseburger, lobster roll and chicken caesar, fries for savoury. Sweets consisted of warm chocolate brownie, vanilla milkshake, strawberry cheesecake shot, and a warm salted caramel donut. All of this was washed down with a glass of chilled prosecco and a pomegranate & mint iced tea which was delightful.

The tea was tasty, fun and good value, with attentive service I had a fun evening, with bookings until 6 great after work treat.... Recommended, but grab it quick only available until end July.

An evening of books & glamour!

Apologies for delay in blogging but my social calendar has been a little busy.....filled with books, burgers & Buble!!.. (More of that to come!).. Last week I popped along to the Conde Naste college of fashion & design for Glamour magazines first Book club event.
The venue was stylish, lots of white & chrome. One room was laid out with seats ready for the Book panel which consisted of Jo Elvin (glamour editor), Natasha Poliszczuk ( assistant editor ) and two authors Adele Parks and Jessica Ruston. Jessica was a new author to me,but Adele I have read and followed since her first book launch 10 years ago. (Adele was also nearly responsible for me to nearly step off the platform at Liverpool st station a couple of years ago!.. Details here !)
The other room was filled with canapés & champagne and allowed avid book fans to mingle and meet book bloggers and readers.

The event opened with introductions and the authors talking of their new books.
Jessica Rustons latest novel The Lies You Told Me is a psychological study of the secrets we keep and the lies we tell people we love.. She said that she liked to write about dark characters, that writing a book can be emotionally draining.
Adele Parks new book The State We're In even has its on # on twitter #keepthesecret as Adele admits that she knew how she wanted to book to end before she wrote it and wants everyone who reads not to give away the ending. I have this book in my to read pile and I'm saving it until i can devour it in one sitting, as I know already I won't be able to put it down. She said that "if you read my book for no other reason, read it because the hero Dean is hot!"... and if Hollywood comes knocking then she would like Ryan Gosling to play Dean .. With Channing Tatum a close runner-up!...she admitted that she becomes quite difficult to live with when writing and both authors admitted that they didn't believe in writers block. Along with talking about their current books, Jess & Adele talked about their  influences, Adeles being Tolstoy & Helen Fielding and Jess's as the old school blockbusters!.. scruples, riders... etc.
Also up for discussion was the term chick-lit, and that as a women author you automatically got labelled this regardless of the genre or book medium, when women's contemporary fiction was the broader title. Both authors talked of the pros & cons of this and was an interesting discussion.
The evening was fun, articulate and not as intimidating as I first thought.. I am probably a little older than Glamours target readership but thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be booking again for their next event... Especially if the goodie bags are as good as the first!!
