lots of thanks

a very quick post for me as i am running out the door to do gramps's shopping and then on to spend some time with friends. "News"...I won a prize!!!!...i entered the Friday Sketchers challenge and have won a prize...i'm so shocked...i'm really flattered and surprised to have been chosen...so thank you to Claudia and her team for choosing me.....

i've got some thankyou bits to take to my friends as they do lots of nice little things for me...of course I can't give alcohol & flowers without a little accompaniment from Bella's fella ...

fabulous 30!

Today is my friend Lucy's birthday, she has now reached her 30's!!.....here is the card i've made her....one of her fave films is Breakfast at Tiffany's so this is my version!...she loves Wizard of Oz so i'm taking her to see it at the Festival Hall in London on friday, it's only been on for 6 weeks and finished sunday so i hope she enjoys it....hugs Tx

the man was amazing!

well what can i say, the man was amazing.....i've seen George Michael whenever he has toured and he still manages to blow me away with his showmanship. Last night he had the ability to transform everyone back to feeling 14 again and then back to today in an amazing 3hr slot. He came on the stage at 8.20 and left the stage at 11.10pm, taking only a 20 minute break. He didn't need a hoard of dancers or a fashion show of costume changes to keep the audience entertained, sometimes only just a stool & bottle of water keeping him company on a very big stage. He was incredibly humble and sometimes in awe of the reception of the crowd. Our seats were great adjacent to the stage, (although we didn't sit in them often!)....a truly fab time had by all! (well 2 very 80's girls from essex!!).....I have found a couple of clips on You Tube..these aren't mine but thought i would share with you all!....I'm Your Man , Everything She Wants, and who could forget Careless Whisper, I don't care if he dances like your dad at a wedding...we all did!!!...

Mornin....for those that know me well, will know that i'm a bit of an 80's girl!...this weekend has been a bit of an 80's filled weekend....it's my friend Lucy's 30th Birthday so she had an 80's school disco party...uniform /80's icon essential.....there were lots of Madonna's, legwarmers, and of course the following man....in his 'Wake me up before you Go Go' heyday!....but what is going to finish my weekend off is seeing the great man himself tonight. It is his final gig and i am very excited to be going, with my bestest friend, who lived every moment of the 80's with me, of which I still have the shared diary to prove! So we are off to Earls Court to see George Michael....i found this this morning which has fuelled the excitement!....Earls Court.....on top of this we have had the fab Olympic handover and we are now the Olympic nation!...wow I travel past the site everyday to go to work, as it's about 20 minutes from me....i've volunteered already but I am incredibly proud to be in London.

i'm so loving this stamp!....she's definitely one of my favs in the magnolia collection...i got her this week....i've been on a stash diet but couldn't resist her & her little cupcake. Friday Sketchers Challenge

I've not done any challenges for a while as i've been busy with friends & family birthday's...so it was nice to sit down and make a card for no other reason than i wanted too!....as you can see i've started to play with christmas designs..this magnolia is one of my favs, but is currently being 'hot contested' with the new muffin tilda!...Here is the challenge sketch from the Friday sketchers.

very quick post as I am running out the door to work....it's my Sister in laws birthday so happy birthday Nicki.....here's her card. I hope that she has a fab day...they are all off to Florida tomorrow.....haven't been about much this week as life is a bit mad at the moment and i'm a bit stressed...will pop back tonight. Hugs Tx

Birthday Balloons Brad!...

Today is my darling nephew Bradley's birthday.........he is 10 years old today....I can't believe it's 10 years since he arrived some what unexpectedly!.....my sister-in-law spent a day at her desk thinking she had 'braxton hicks' when in fact she was in labour ~ Brad arrived 2 months early weighing 3lb 4oz.....i can't say I'm surprised my brother and i were born 15 weeks early weighing 2lb 12 & 2lb 10 respectively! His Birthday will consist of Bowling & Bikes!....the birthday fairy is bring a new bike. Then friday they are off to Florida (hurricane dependant!) so I hope he has a fab day and he has a fab time with Mick & Min.......talking of hurricanes....I hope that my blogging 'sisters' Monica & Roz keep safe with their families in their homes in Florida. love & hugs Tx

Last night I decided to make a card for one of the card challenges, I haven't done one for a while but here's mine for Cute Card Thursday....challenge was home & soft furnishing influences..Ive used ribbon for mine...papers are from Love Elsie & American Crafts..Stamps from Magnolia, Amuse & Stamping Bella....Cupcakes are all cooked for mums birthday bash, just need to ice everything today...30 chocolate & 30 vanilla!...my SBS friend Monica is hosting her first challenge so will pop this onto her blog...hugs Tx

Cupcakes,Cooking & Cravings.....

why is it that you spend hours looking for stuff and then suddenly like buses it all comes along together?....i am always looking for cupcake/cooking scrap stuff....and now suddenly my cravings have been met...there is loads appearing....here is a flavour that are now on my wish list! Teresa Collins ~ Bon Appetit , Dream Street ~ Cookies & Cream...yum yum...and the gorgeous Magnolia stamps have released stamps too!...I'm loving Cupcake Tilda , Tilda with Rolling Pin , Muffin ,....how scrummy are these!.....talking of scrummy I am a little addicted to the Olympics at the moment...in particular the swimming & rowing!!....how awesome is Michael Phelps the guy is phenomenal absolutely amazing to watch...looking ahead I will be glued to the rowing at the weekend..come on the GB boys.....

Happy Birthday Mum...

Today my mum is 65!....so happy birthday mum.....here is a little card that i've made her..with Bella's & Bling to help!.I have had quite a rocky relationship with my mum over the years, but since we lost nan and we have Gramps to care for we have found some level ground, of which i'm thankful....so I hope she has a lovely day....she is having a party on saturday....here is he card....I found a template and cut this by hand, i'm really pleased with it......love & hugs Tx (Please click on images for better viewing)

Morning...Today is Jack's 5th Birthday...he is on his holiday's in Menorca. Jack is my friend Karen's son and the brother of my Godson Harry....so Big Birthday Hugs & Kisses Jack...mummy packed lots of goodies for you so I hope that you enjoy....Ben10 was very popular this year!....here is Jack's card...it's the first time that i've tried a pop up..used a mixture of Hanglar & Magnolia images....the outside of the card is a suitcase which i addressed with a postcard and luggage stamped.

Grandads Girl..

Morning...i've managed to do this weeks challenge on UKS....had to use sketch, celebration,5 of something, pink & bling...so here is mine....it's of my Grandad & me...dancing at his Golden Wedding anniversary...it's the last memory that I have of him before his disability got the better of him. He now uses walking sticks/aids to get around. I love this picture for many reasons, another page to add to his book....

I currently have Blackberry & apple muffins in the oven....the blackberries are from my garden!...organically grown!..I have the bramble scratches on my arms to prove. My garden is very much neglected..so yesterday afternoon I set myself the task of cutting back the brambles and trying to get some semblance of a garden back..(otherwise I has visions of opening the paper and finding someone had reported that my weeds were visible from space!)....its a little better..although spent the day dodging rain showers. Sunday hugs Tx

66 years.....

Today would have been my nan & gramp's 66th wedding anniversary....(here is a layout that I have finished for gramps's 90th birthday book)...they are a complete aspiration to me...One of my jobs today was to take 66 white carnations to the cemetery. Every year Gramps bought Nan white carnations for the number of years married on their anniversary, as this was what she carried in her bouquet....and in it he would write her a little note telling her how much he loved her. He was in bright spirits today which was a blessing, the first since she passed, he spent the time talking about all the tales from the day which was great, as some of them I had never heard...a 'scrappers' dream!...I left him watching the opening ceremony for the Olympics which was amazing....off now..may pop back later!

happy birthday to my mad friend...

Today is my best friend Justine's birthday...we met on our first day at secondary school and have been bestest pals ever since....she is mad and makes me laugh every day on the way to work....hope you have a lovely day....here's her card....she' has 2 dogs who are her children...so thought this image was fab!....also...happy anniversary to my brother & 'sister'...20 years together,14 years married....hugs Tx

Honey...

just a brief post...today I said goodbye to my Honey. I looked after this little lady when my friend Lucy was pregnant with her son George..he is now 3 and a half.at that time she was 13!...what i didn't forsee is that she would come at a time when I would need her more than she needed me. Two weeks after she arrived I lost my nan....in those very bleak and dark times afterwards she became my salvation and was a reason for me to get up in the morning..if only to feed her!...she has been my shadow and would walk to the end of the road each day to meet me after work...in recent times she has spent her days going backwards and forwards to Gramps's with me. Today she didn't meet me up the road and I found her curled up next to the doorstep asleep for good. She will be very missed...my little companion. X

Cupcakes, cards & cocktails.....

a big thankyou to everyone who left me messages for my birthday.....i had a lovely day...i'm not good with birthdays and would quite happily let them pass in a blur but some very special friends did some lovely things to make it fun for me....day started with me opening my cards with my cat!...off to work where my 'bestest' friend had got her train early to my station and waited on the platform with a little cake & candles!..singing 'happy birthday as i walked down the platform!...i had made Blueberry cupcakes for work which were a big hit!....worked late and then met a friend for a quick cocktail....here are some random pictures from my day....special thanks to my SBS girls; sammi, Kim,& Joana for my lovely cards....great minds think alike!
